Adaptos®Vet is a synthetic bone graft substitute with a unique composite composition and bone-like structure. Adaptos®Vet and its packaging are designed for easy aseptic use and intuitive implantation so that the surgeon can concentrate on what is most important: the patient and his well-being. Adaptos®Vet granules are intended for reconstruction and filling of bone defects or gaps in the skeletal system of veterinary patients, including oral and maxillofacial as well as orthopedic defects, of all species.
Adaptos®Vet is composed of porous and biodegradable composite material comprising a ceramic phase of osteostimulative bioactive glass and osteoconductive β-tricalcium phosphate incorporated in a resilient polymer matrix of poly(L-lactide-co-ε-caprolactone). The degradation products of Adaptos®Vet are molecules and ions that also normally appear in the animal body, and they are secreted via natural metabolic routes as the material resorbs.
Adaptos®Vet granules can be used in the same way as autologous bone morsels. The granules are resilient, and they do not break even when pushed and compressed during implantation. Adaptos®Vet does not provide mechanical strength to support load-bearing defects before hard tissue has regenerated. When a bone defect requires load-bearing fixation, standard fixation techniques should be used to achieve rigid stabilisation of the defect site. Adaptos®Vet products are sterile medical devices only intended to be used by veterinary professionals and for single use only. The bone graft products are stored at room temperature.
Different granule sizes are equally effective in treating and filling different osseous defects. The choice between different granule sizes is more about usability and personal preferences of the surgeon. Ultra Fine granules are especially suitable for void filling of bone cysts and tooth extraction sites and for treating small fractures, especially on small veterinary patients.
Adaptos®Vet products are intended for reconstruction and filling of bone defects or gaps in the skeletal system of veterinary patients including dental, oral, and maxillofacial and orthopedic defects, of all species. Bone defects may occur as surgically created defects or as a result of a trauma.
